Because these values are updated sequentially, meaning that the first value in the list is updated, followed by the second, then the third, etc., you can make multiple changes to a single field. For example, you can copy the value from one field to another field, then add ten to it. Or you can add some items to a checklist in one step, then remove others in the next. In the previous example, we updated both the expiration date as well as adding a comment.
