VSys can create or update certifications based on training records. As in the example below, you can use this where completing an "Initial Orientation" training creates or updates their "Orientation Training Status" certification.
Whenever a volunteer's training with a subject of "Initial Orientation" is marked as Completed, VSys will find and create or update his "Orientation Training Status" certification with an Effective date equal to the date of the training and an Expiration date the same as the training's expiration.
Option |
Rules |
No link |
VSys will not create, edit or otherwise affect any certifications for the student. |
Always create new |
VSys will always create a new certification of this type if possible. If that certification type is defined as allowing only one per person, VSys will not create the new one. |
Update existing if available, otherwise create new |
Finds an existing certification of this type if available and updates it. If none is found VSys will create it. |
Update existing but do not create new |
Finds an existing certification of this type if available and updates it. If none is found VSys will do nothing. |
Internally, VSys maintains a link between the training record and the certification. If you update a training record and it's linked to an existing certification, even if the rule calls for VSys to create a new certification, it won't create one: it will update the one that the training record is linked to.
