Duplicating a Project

When running the same project year after year, it's more convenient to duplicate an existing project than to re-create the project again from scratch. Duplicating a project makes a copy of the project and all of its settings, jobs, locations, custom fields, delegations and optionally its job slots. The new project starts out with no people in it: it does not re-register the same people as were registered in the original project.

Steps in this task

  1. From your listing of projects, right-click on the project you want to duplicate.
  2. Select Tools and then Duplicate from the menu.
  3. Enter the name for the new project along with the new dates. Checking Duplicate job slots will make empty copies of all of the job slots in the original project with dates relative to the new project's Start date.
  4. Click OK. VSys will make the new project.
  5. Edit the new project's settings by right-clicking on it and selecting Setup then General.
