Setting Up Universal Background Screening

To configure VSys to send and retrieve background checks from Universal Background Screening, you must first enable the option in VSys and then configure Universal screening.

  1. From the Setup panel, choose System preferences and feature enabling, and then under Feature enabling check Background checks: Universal Background Screening. Save these changes.
  2. Configure Setup Universal Background Screening background checks from the Screening panel:

Field name

Description

Account

(provided by Universal)

User ID (for API)

(provided by Universal. used by VSys when connecting to Universal's API)

Password

(provided by Universal. used by VSys when connecting to Universal's API)

Contact e-mail (optional)

If present, used by Universal to send e-mail notifications based based on statuses for any requests in Universal's system.

Connect to Universal

Leave this as Default; change to other values if VSys is unable to make an SSL connection to the Universal servers.

Minimum volunteer age

Any person whose age is below this won't be sent to Universal. In most cases this should be set to 18.

Valid packages

Universal will provide you with one or more "package codes". These codes are used to tell Universal's servers, for each request, the type of screening to be done, payment method, and other settings.

Enter the packages that Universal gives you. Or, click on the Check package codes using these settings link to simultaneously validate your settings as well as retrieve the current packages available for your account.
