VSys Live Permalinks

"Permalink" is a web term for "Permanent link", a hyperlink that can be used to bookmark some content on a page for future reference. Some content in VSys Live doesn't have its own page, for example news items and job slots. For someone to share or "Like" that content, it needs to have a link that can be used directly. That's where permalinks come in. If an item has a permalink it can be shown directly using that link.

For example, sending the permalink URL for a news item to a friend would let that friend click on the link and go directly to the news item. VSys Live can't show your friend the same page you saw since she's not logged in. Normally that news item is displayed in a "News" or "News feed" block and that "News feed" block would be constantly cycling through different news items. Instead VSys Live uses a placeholder page and shows the news item in the Region to use for content region of the page. An example permalink for a news item:

"Permanent link" doesn't necessarily imply that the link lasts forever here: if the news item is deleted or the job slot is gone then VSys Live can't display it anymore.
